![]() Still, the fact that the island with the ugly statue of Hylia turns out to be a dungeon and has the motherfucking Triforce as its dungeon item is pretty epic.Īs far as the dungeon itself, it has an overarching concept that is extremely creative. The history of Skyward Sword is still a little murky for me, because admittedly I have only played the game once, so I don't have a deep memory of it like I do with something like Majora's Mask. So it seems that this island was initially built on the ground, then rose to Skyloft, and then fell back down because of Link's use of the Triforce. ![]() Something weird about this dungeon is that it is already shaped to perfectly fit in the Sealed Temple's snail-like valley. Based on how the Temple of Time has shifted locations and architecture, being built on top of the Imprisoned seems to have imbued it with a quality like the island in Lost. Combined, the Sealed Temple and Sky Keep seem to comprise the original Temple of Time. At the conclusion of the dungeon, the dungeon itself fucking falls from the sky and squishes the Imprisoned, which is just about the most satisfying thing a dungeon has ever done. Sky Keep is effectively the Goddess Hylia's final trial for you (which, mercifully, is much less stressful than the Silent Realm ), designed to test your Courage, Wisdom, and Power™. How does that make you feel? Since that location is probably Hyrule Field itself, you may be directly responsible for some of the rock formations there in later games. There is an 85% chance that you killed a bunch of innocent people and animals living directly underneath Skyloft. When you activate the statue, it shoots a cannonball at the island, causing most of the rock to fall off. Like, what the fuck? The Triforce of Wisdom is just in this random room?! After being the vehicle for so many others to get the Triforce, you get your own chance to make a wish (well, not really, since it's scripted), and manage to fuck it up just like everyone else using the Triforce will in the future by not wording your wish precisely enough. Part of me was just incredulous throughout this dungeon. And your reason for going here is kind of epic. You enter Sky Keep by remembering Chekov's One-Eyed Statue from the very beginning. It would have worked better if they integrated some of these events into the second arc of dungeons so that you didn't have to go so long between Fire Sanctuary and Sky Keep. Don't get me wrong, I didn't hate the whole tadtone/Eruption/time-travelling peach section, but it was just kind of random and tacked on. You arrive at Sky Keep at the very end of the game, after completing all the other dungeons, killing the Imprisoned like a million times, and getting through the last arc of filler. After this I’m going to go ahead and post #22, which I worked on simultaneously. I don’t have a lot to say about this place, making for a somewhat dull entry. Furthermore, a lot of its content is recycled/remixed from the past dungeons. It doesn't have even HAVE a boss, which is one of the grading criteria. Unfortunately, Sky Keep was doomed and never really had a legitimate chance to "win" this ranking (not that the #1 ranked dungeon is like. Oh well, we'll get there eventually.Ĭoming in at #23 is another of the provisional dungeon candidates, Sky Keep. ![]() I guess I'm rambling way too much per entry. It felt like I made a lot of progress, but it turns out that I really haven't. ![]() I figured I'd do a better job of keeping track of what is out and what's left, so that it is easier to follow along.
